Beyond Target Coupons – Little Known Tips and Tricks for Saving
Money at Target

Saving money at Target has become something of a sport in this
country. (A fun sport).
Here are some 12 little known tips and tricks to give you the winning
edge:
1. Use
Target's Printable Grocery Coupons. Before you leave
home, check
here and print the coupons for items you need.
2.
Sign up for Target’s mobile coupons. It's easy and free to
register, and you'll get a bunch of coupons and offers delivered right
to your phone each month. Your checker simply scans a bar code from your
phone at the register.
To sign up, go
here or visit m.target.com from your mobile phone. Alternately, you
can text the words COUPONS to 827438. (Text messaging rates apply. And
these coupons are for using in store only, not online.)
3. Check the
Target.com web site for weekly ads as well as for today’s
Daily Deals here. These deals last only a
day (plus you'll always get free shipping on these daily deals.)
NewCouponsandDeals.com
also has a great section for
online
Target product deals, but you have to act fast because these deals
don’t last long. When they’re gone, they’re gone. Of course, you can
also find the latest
online Target coupons and deals at Susies-Coupons
here.
4. Bring clipped and printed coupons. Target honors
most printable coupons as well as those clipped from Sunday circulars,
so make sure to bring the coupons you’ve printed from our
printable
grocery coupons site, as well as those you clipped from Sunday
newspaper inserts.
Be on the lookout for further discounts, often in the form of rebates,
on individual products as you shop. And remember that most Target
coupons are stackable, too, so you can use a printed coupon and a
clipped coupon and a mobile coupon.
5. Shop the end caps (those shelves on the end of aisles).
The easiest way to do this is to make a bargain-hunting lap of
the store’s perimeter from time to time.
Target places their most reduced clearance items on aisle end caps. The
exact placement is unique to each store, but there’s typically a
“clearance bonanza” in each individual section, as well as a storewide
clearance spot.
You can find amazing deals there. I’ve found the best deals on
toys, which tend to hit clearance racks on Wednesdays, as well as on
Jewelry and Accessories (which tend to get marked down on Fridays), and
Groceries (which tend to get marked down on Tuesdays.) Shop often – and
early in the morning - for the best selection.
Another tip for timing your shopping: If you’re like me and you have a
‘gift closet’ for all those last-minute birthday invites, stock it for
the coming year at Target’s after-holiday clearance sale. This usually
kicks off on the Thursday before or after New Years. You’ll find
ridiculous savings on toys. I mean ridiculous.
6. Wait. If you’re a gamblin’ girl, wait as long as
possible before you buy, because the item might get marked down again.
Target generally starts with a 15% markdown, then takes it to 25, then
30, 50, 75 and even sometimes to 90%, if there’s anything left.
How will you know when a price is as low as it’s going to go? Simple.
When an item’s little orange clearance sticker has a price that ends in
“4,” such as “2.74,” that’s as low as the price is going to get. Buy it
now!
7. Before you make your way to the checkout, do a last little
scan of your cart and decide whether it contains anything that made its
way in there because of Clearance Madness/Blindness. We all
have times when we get so carried away with a good deal that we buy
things we don’t even want. Even if the price ends in a 4, you can save
even more by putting it back where you found it. Unless, of course, you
truly love it, and then – onward to the checkstand!
8. Pay with your
REDcard. Assuming that you pay
your bill in its entirety each month and don’t run a balance, you can
save an additional
5%
when you pay with your Target REDcard. Once you get a REDcard (which
you can apply for at your local Target store or by mail) you'll also get
5% off when you use your card online.
As a REDcard user, you'll also get frequent coupon books sent to your
home with savings that correspond to your buying habits. And there are
other benefits as well: Target will donate 1% of your REDcard purchases
to the school you designate. Plus, once you have used your REDcard to
fill five prescriptions at Target's Pharmacy, you'll earn 5% off a day
of Target shopping. That's in addition to the 5% off you'll already get
when you use your REDcard at the checkout. Here are the
details on the
RedCard.
9. If you don’t have a RedCard, pay with discounted Target gift
cards. Sites such as
GiftCards.com
allow you to save up to 25% at your favorite
retailers by buying gift cards at a discount.
10. Check your receipt and file it away for next time.
Target now features more coupons and promotions at the bottom of each
sales receipt.
11. Join our $50 monthly Target gift card giveaway! Susies-Coupons.com gives away a $50 Target.com gift card each month to
one of our newsletter subscribers. So each month that you’re subscribed,
you’re eligible. If you’re not a subscriber, click here
now.
